Sunfiber®

Sunfiber® is a water-soluble dietary fiber produced by a controlled partial enzymatic hydrolysis of Guar beans.

Guar (Cyamopsis Tetragonaloba) is a plant that grows in the semi-arid regions of west and northwest India. It is a hardy, drought resistance annual bush that is sown in July and harvested in November. The plant grows to a height of about 1.5-2.0 meters (5-6 feet), vertically stalked, with large leaves and clusters of bean-like pods.

Each pod is about 5-8 centimeters (2.5-3inches) long and has on an average 6-9 small, greyish - white pea shaped seeds.

Guar pods have been a rich source of protein for the Indian people in the form of vegetables since several hundred years. They are cooked and eaten like string beans.

The outer husk and central germ of the beans are rich in protein and are valuable cattle feed. The endosperm is the galactomannan and Sunfiber® is produced from this galactomannan.
